People either love or hate St. Valentine's Day. A bittersweet endorsement of lifestyles held only by people in relationships doesn't particularly sit well with many single and widowed people. Some people like to joke that Valentine's Day shouldn't exist, since anyone ought to treat their lover like every day is February 14th. Nevertheless, people who are single and unhappy about it, even if of their own accord, have a hard time escaping the rampant commercialism in the form of non-stop love songs and massive displays of flowers, candy, greeting cards, and stuffed animals everywhere they go, serving as ostentatious reminders that nobody loves them. Technicalities aside, depending on who you ask, February is either the shortest month of the year, or the longest. Many single people are happy as they are.
But not all.
It's not here yet, and it still can't end soon enough for me.
